Policy Papers

Family carers are often exposed to complex legal issues, legislation and statutory schemes which can be difficult to understand. Family Carers Ireland prepares policy papers and briefings to help explain and summarise Government schemes and national policies and legislation including eligibility criteria for social welfare supports such as Carer's Allowance; carers' access to the State Pension and explanations of the Fair Deal Nursing Home Support Scheme and the Statutory Homecare Scheme.

These papers not only aim to help family carers understand important policy issues, but also assess the impact of policy on family carers and better inform Government and policy makers of the impact of their decisions.
