Communication with Doctors

Our Communication with Doctors and Empowerment Workshop for Family Carers has two main priorities :

  1. Carers' own health and wellbeing;
  2. Dealing with doctors on behalf of the person you are caring for

The workshop focuses on peer interaction and provides an opportunity to ‘practice’ the communication skills covered as part of efforts to:

  • increase confidence in discussing the impact of caring on your own health and wellbeing
  • encourage a proactive approach to your own health and wellbeing
  • increase confidence in discussing concerns about the care recipient
  • support you, the family carer, towards assertiveness in conversations regarding care tasks that may further increase the impact on your caring role.
