About Our Membership

Welcome to our membership! 

You'll be joining thousands of family carers who want to be part of one community and act as one voice. It's you that helps Family Carers Ireland work towards positive change and shape policy that will improve the lives of Ireland's 500,000+ family and young carers.

Caring for a loved one can be rewarding, but it can also be difficult, frightening and isolating. It shouldn’t be. We want family carers to know there is support there for you, to make it less of a battle and to know that you are not alone. That is why Family Carers Ireland exists.

Our focus as an organisation is on family carers. We are the charity that asks YOU the carer how YOU are. Whether you are caring for a young child or an adult with an intellectual or physical disability, a spouse with a terminal illness, an ageing parent or a loved one with a mental health illness, FCI is here to help you maintain your caring routine and to inform policy and public debate surrounding family caring.

Your membership and involvement counts. Carers’ strength comes from unity in numbers.  The bigger our carer community grows, the stronger your voice becomes on issues directly related to family caring. So if you know any other family carers, why not tell them about our membership?

What will I get as a member?

1. An FCI membership card, identifying you as a family carer.

We offer three types of membership.

  • 1. I am a family carer – €20 per year

    If you are currently caring for a loved one, relative or friend, you will receive:

    • Your FCI membership card.
    • Access to over 100 exclusive discounts and offers! Click here to view
    • Subscription to our TAKE CARE newsletter keeping you up to date with important information throughout the year (events, campaigns, education, training, budget announcements, etc.)
    • Member only subsidy offer for the FCI National Respite Weekend
    • As a member, you can be nominated for appointment as a board member of FCI

  • 2. I am a former family carer, care worker or friend of a carer – €20 per year

    If you are a former family carer, you will receive:

    •  Your FCI membership card
    •  Access to exclusive discounts and offers (some offers do not apply).  Click here to view

    •      Subscription to our TAKE CARE newsletter keeping you up to date with important information throughout the year (events, campaigns, education, training, budget announcements, etc.)

  • 3. I am a young carer under the age of 24 – FREE!!

How do I join?

Online: Simply click here to access our online application form and pay online, securely and safely. If you are a young carer under the age of 24, please click here to sign up for FREE!

By post: Drop membership@familycarers.ie an email or Freephone our National Careline on 1800 24 07 24 and ask for a Member Application Form to be popped in the post!  It’s that easy!

Please note that membership cards take between 5-10 working days to be processed and posted.

It is important to note that FCI Member cards are NON-TRANSFERABLE for a range of security and privacy reasons. Therefore, the card can only be used by the family carer whose name appears on the membership card. Your membership must also be up to date in order to use it.
