Nominate a carer you know for an Award!
Why is CarePlus sponsoring the Carer of the Year Awards?
The local pharmacy is one of the first key points of contact for family carers to speak with health professionals in your community. When loved ones are first diagnosed with an illness or disability the support that carers receive from their pharmacist is invaluable. This goes well beyond prescribing medication – it involves advice, medication management and quite often emotional support and information on their loved ones’ illness and treatment.
Our CarePlus Pharmacists and their staff are dedicated to providing Carers with the best in healthcare and wellbeing advice and are always available to help and assist.
Why should I nominate someone I know for an Award?
The Carer of the Year Awards have been running for 12 years and are about recognising and saying thank you to family carers for the work that they do each day in their homes. The awards also raise awareness amongst policy makers, media and society in general as to who family carers are, why they are so important in our society and how we can better support them.
The awards include recognition for young carers under the age of 18 who are usually supporting their parents with the care of a younger sibling or an elderly relative.
How do the nominations work?
From April 25th, you can download a nomination form here, from www.careplus.ie or you can call into any of our CarePlus Pharmacies to pick up a nomination form. All entrants are entered into a Regional Award, of which there are 26! From the Regional Awards, 4 Young Carers are chosen as well as one overall CarePlus Carer of the Year and these winners, along with all the Regional winners are celebrated at an Awards event in Dublin in November.
